Collecting a parcel
Read a fictional parcel collection card in this A2 lesson. Practise finding dates, places and instructions with vocabulary and five questions with answers.
On Monday, Lina comes home from work and finds a card by her door. She is waiting for a parcel of books. She reads the card carefully.
“We came today, but you were not at home. Your parcel will be ready to collect from Tuesday.
Collection place: the counter inside Green Street Shop, opposite the station.
Opening hours: Monday to Saturday, nine in the morning to six in the evening.
Please bring this card and photo ID.”
It is only five o’clock. Lina puts on her shoes, then looks at the card again. The shop is open now, but her parcel is not ready until Tuesday. She takes off her shoes and puts the card in her bag.
The next morning, she adds her photo ID. She finishes work at four and walks to Green Street Shop. Inside, a worker asks for the card and looks at her ID. He brings a box from a shelf behind the counter.
Lina checks the name on the label. It is her name, and the address is correct. She thanks the worker and carries the box home.
At home, she opens the parcel and chooses a book. Reading the card twice helped her choose the right day for her visit.
