Introducing a club guest
Practise A2 reading with a story about introducing a club guest, six vocabulary words and five questions with answers.
Linh belongs to a small photography club. At Friday’s meeting, she will introduce a guest to the group. She has one minute to speak before the guest begins. She wants everyone to know who the visitor is and what they will learn.
The guest sends her a message:
“Hello Linh. My name is Rosa. I am a photographer. I take photos of people at work. On Friday, I will show photos of people who repair shoes, bags and other everyday things. I also enjoy gardening, but Friday’s talk is about my work. Please ask everyone to save their questions until the end.”
Linh writes a few notes. She includes Rosa’s name, job and the subject of her talk. She leaves out the gardening detail because it is not part of the talk. She reads her notes aloud once before the meeting.
When everyone is sitting down, Linh stands beside Rosa. “Please welcome our guest, Rosa. She is a photographer. Her topic today is people who repair everyday things. You can ask questions after her talk.”
Linh then sits down, and Rosa shows her first photo. It is a man fixing a red bag. The group knows what the talk is about before Rosa starts her first story.
