Every morning, Maya buys coffee at the same café near her office. She orders a small coffee, says thank you and leaves. She likes her routine because it is quick and easy.
One Tuesday, the café is closed. There is a note on the door: “Back tomorrow.” Maya looks at her watch. She still has twenty minutes before work, so she walks down a different street.
She finds a small café beside a bookshop. Inside, a woman is putting fresh bread on a table. “Would you like to try some?” the woman asks. Maya orders coffee and a piece of bread. She sits by the window instead of taking her drink away.
A man at the next table asks about the book in her bag. They talk for a few minutes. He likes the same writer, and he suggests another book.
At work, Maya tells her friend about her morning. “My usual café was closed,” she says, “but I found something nice.” The next week, she visits both cafés. She still likes her old routine, but now she enjoys changing it sometimes.
