Reading a guesthouse message

A2 · Travel and places · 5 min practice · Fiction

Read an owner’s message and find arrival, breakfast and departure information.

Jin is staying at a small guesthouse for one night. On the morning of his journey, he receives a message from the owner. He reads it while he packs his bag.

“Hello, Jin. Your room will be ready after three this afternoon. Please arrive before eight in the evening, when I leave the office. The guesthouse has a green front door. Ring the bell once, and I will meet you there. Breakfast is served downstairs from seven until nine tomorrow morning. Please leave your room by ten and put the key in the wooden box beside the office. If your arrival time changes, please send me a message. Best wishes, Ana.”

Jin expects to arrive at five, so he does not need to change his plans. He writes down the address and saves Ana’s message on his phone.

The next morning, he wants to catch a bus at half past nine. He plans to eat breakfast at eight and leave the room at nine. That gives him time to return the key before walking to the bus stop.
