An email about a new shift
Read a work email and find the new shift time, meeting place and reply deadline.
On Monday afternoon, Amir receives an email from Jo, his manager at a small bookshop. His usual Wednesday shift is from ten until four. He reads the message before leaving work.
“Hello, Amir. A delivery is arriving early this Wednesday. Could you work from eight until two instead of ten until four? You will still work the same number of hours. Please come to the back door at eight. I will be there to open it. We need to count the new books before the shop opens at ten. Please reply by Tuesday lunchtime. Thank you, Jo.”
Amir checks his plans. He usually takes his daughter to school on Wednesday, but his partner can do it this week. He replies that he can work the earlier shift. He also asks whether he needs to bring any equipment.
Jo writes back that everything is ready at the shop. Amir adds the new time to his calendar. On Wednesday, he arrives at the back door a few minutes before eight.
